How to Earn Points in Pottermore

Recently, the ever anticipated Pottermore’s been opened to the public. You get excited, you find the galleons, the chocolate frogs, the potion ingredients, you shop at Diagon Alley, brew potions, meet fellow Hogwartians, cast spells, and so on. But what do you do to maintain those precious rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and golds (?) in their containers? Enjoying Pottermore is one thing, but contributing points to your respective houses is different.

Today, I will give you some tips on how to win the house cup. Even though I am a Ravenclaw, I’ll still be willing to help everyone. :D

One of the things that you can do to earn house points is to completely find all the chocolate frogs and potions ingredients throughout the course of the game. Each object has a corresponding point. If my memory serves me right, one object is worth 2 points (Please comment if I have put some horrible mistakes here).

Another is finding all the galleons as well. The more galleons you find, the more potion ingredients you can brew. Although the galleons is only limited to a certain amount, finding them all won’t hurt you.

Brewing potions is, for me, the very source of house points—more on its points here. You can brew it, leave for an hour or so, and then earn those golden points. But of course, you need to “cook” them properly because if you don’t, you can also lose points if you brew then incorrectly.

Dueling can earn/lose you points. You can challenge anyone—even from your own house, win and earn (so far I have only won a 5-point duel) points! But it would be unwise to challenge someone from your own house if you’re after winning the house cup. The key to win a duel is to use a strong spell that will over power the spell used by your opponent.

That’s all I know for now. Comment for suggestions, violent reactions and other tips too! Cheers for the house cup! :D
